Why is macOS blocking SlapChan on first launch?
Because it's not from the Mac App Store. Apple doesn't recognize indie developers by default. The 30-second setup on the Install page fixes this once and forever.
Is it safe?
Yes. SlapChan is just a fun desktop app. No data collection, no network calls, no shady stuff — everything runs locally on your machine.
What if I get stuck during install?
Email support@slapchan.in and we'll help you personally. Or we'll refund you immediately, no drama.
Will it be on the App Store?
Eventually, but for now we're distributing directly to keep it fast and weird.
Does it actually read my chassis accelerometer?
Yes. SlapChan attaches to the SMC sudden-motion-sensor bus on Intel Macs, and uses the equivalent IOHID surface on Apple Silicon. On hardware without one, the microphone fallback activates automatically.
Can I import custom waves and GIFs?
Drop custom folder structures containing .wav, .mp3, .m4a, or .gif files into ~/Library/Application Support/SlapChan/packs and they appear under the Archetype picker on next launch. You take full ownership of imported copyrighted material.
How do I recover my license?
